“And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord: For He is good, for His mercy endures forever toward Israel. Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.” Ezra 3:11.
The foundation of Israel’s worship had been re-established after their captivity. They rejoiced, but their enemies did not. We see right away there was resistance in the rebuilding of the Temple from their adversaries who continually opposed them as they did the work. This same thing can, and often does, happen to us when we choose to have Jesus Christ as the foundation of our lives. We find out right away who the adversaries of God are in our lives. They can be co-workers, friends, family, or even a spouse. No matter where the opposition comes from, we must continue to build our lives on the sure foundation, Jesus Christ. “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” I Cor 3:11.
