“Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” Isaiah 6:5 (NKJV)
When was the last time you were undone? And why were you undone? Were you undone because the bills were due when the money was gone? Were you undone because that relationship fell apart or your marriage was on the rocks? Were you undone because the diagnosis was bad news?
We need to remember that all these things are in God’s hands and He tells us not to worry, He’s got our back! So when was the last time you were undone for the right reason: because you had an encounter with “the King, the LORD of Hosts”? Has it been awhile? Then maybe it’s time to seek an audience with the King and be humble in His presence. You do remember what happened next, right? “Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.’” Isaiah 6:6-7
So let’s take action today! Let us take all of our fears, failures, cares, and concerns, and cast them down on the blood-stained ground beneath the wondrous Cross of Christ. Be set free! Jesus proclaimed, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” John 8:36. When we have been set free, our worship becomes gratifying to God, pleasing to Him, and therefore refreshing to us. We could all do with more of an unencumbered enthusiasm for making glad the heart of God. David wrote, “I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalms 34:1. Maybe today you and I long to be refreshed in the Lord but cannot see from beneath the umbrella of burden that we carry. Let it go! Now, look up, for your redemption is near.
