Part 1b: Knowing Christ
Jesus never called people simply to adopt His teachings. He called them to follow Him. The disciples were not changed merely by what they learned, but by whom they walked with. They watched Him, misunderstood Him, failed Him, and were restored by Him. Over time, their lives were shaped not only by His words, but by His presence.
That same invitation stands. We come to know Christ through His Word, which reveals Him truthfully and authoritatively. We know Him in prayer, where communion replaces mere petition. We know Him in obedience, where trust takes shape in action. And we know Him in suffering, where lesser securities collapse and we learn to cling to Him alone.
The question, then, is not simply what we know about Christ, but whether we are truly knowing Him. Not whether we are active, but whether we are abiding. Not whether we can speak His language, but whether we are living in fellowship with Him.
Eternal life begins here.
To know Christ is the beginning of eternal life, the foundation of discipleship, and the deepest joy of the believer. Everything else in the Christian life flows from this one glorious reality: we have been invited to know the living God through Jesus Christ, His Son.
