Romans 10:1-13

As we continue in Romans 10, we begin with Paul’s heartfelt prayer for Israel’s salvation. Their zeal is sincere, but sincerity alone cannot make us righteous before God. Paul contrasts the righteousness we try to earn with the righteousness God freely gives through faith in Christ. The good news is not distant or hard to reach: Christ has completed the work, and salvation is offered to everyone who believes and calls upon Jesus as Lord.
The gospel brings salvation near—near enough to be believed in the heart and confessed with the mouth. Whether Jew or Gentile, the invitation is the same, and the promise is sure: whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.
