One day while walking with my son he asked, “Daddy, why is the grass green and the sky blue?” Not since my 8th grade final science exam did I think I would ever have a need to use that information again. But there I was, taken back by the question for a moment. Standing in front of me, looking up for an answer, was my little redheaded boy. With the wonder of the world filling up his beautiful green eyes my heart once again melted. His question to me was with compete expectation of an answer and a correct one at that. He was looking longingly to his father to help him understand his world as more and more questions filled his little heart and mind. He assumed as he should have that I had the answer, which to my surprise I did.

As you and I choose to live out our Christian faith with boldness, there are those around us who might be looking in with wonder and asking the same question, “Why do you have hope?” Are we ready and able to give them the answers they need? Proverbs says, “The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.” (Proverbs 15:28). Are we taking the study of God’s Holy Word seriously? Do we do it daily? Are we ready to give an answer to those who ask? Have our devotions become a fleeting and lightweight experience? How will we ever be able to apply God’s Word daily if we do not understand it intimately and deeply? Peter wrote, “…and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you…” (1 Peter 3:15b). Be ready church family, the world is seeking the answer, who is our Lord Jesus. They may not know it is He whom they seek, but He is the answer to their questions. Are you ready to tell them all about it? If you are not, get ready. Revival is coming!
