Carrying Scars

Acts 14:19-20

Have you ever tried something new? Did you crash and burn? Me too! But that means we learned at least one way not to do it. Here is a question: Did you try it again or give up? For example, many of us paid the price in blood to learn to ride a bike. Why? We wanted freedom! But the scars we carry remind us of the lessons learned. Many of us who have received Jesus by faith bring scars from our past lives that are a constant reminder of God’s grace and redemption. That does not mean those painful cuts are good, but they are part of who we are. This is a reminder never to return to the old life and to follow Jesus. However, even after we have committed to following Jesus, new scars will come. Some are self-inflicted because of our foolish behavior, and yet others are caused by those who hate Jesus and us. But have you ever ventured out into ministry only to have things go so badly that you thought you would never do it again? Remember that we are called to be faithful to Jesus, not successful. (See 1 Corinthians 4:2) Paul writes, “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12)
